What most people think they know about child support is probably wrong. In California, when child support is paid to a family on public benefits, the children only see a small portion of the money. Moreover, the paying parent is required to repay ALL of the public benefits for welfare, Medi-Cal, and foster care- even after the family comes off the benefits and the children are grown.
And if you can't pay? You lose your driver's and professional licenses and risk being jailed.
There is so much that needs to change. California Families Rise is working with KEY STAKEHOLDERS to create real and lasting change.
Please contact us and share your story, because we can and WILL change these Child Support laws that are hurting low-income families.
